Ownership of the Welsh Harp
A lot of people say that 'the council' should get its act together. We agree. But other custodians of the Welsh Harp should, too. Ownership is complex:
- The reservoir and shoreline is owned by the Canal and River Trust.
- The open areas are owned by Barnet Council and Brent Council.
The two inflowing rivers (River Brent and Silk Stream) are managed by the Environment Agency, which also oversees the reservoir’s flood control function.
- Natural England advises on the reservoir’s environmental issues and adjudicates on the SSSI status.
